Well 2008 has been an interesting year so far and I have been thinking a lot.. so Yesterday while working I decided on the first step to all the things that have been flowing in my mind and that is I started a "Goal Journal".
See I don't believe in resolutions for the new year. Resolutions are meant to be broken and so many people get hurt by them. I wanted to set goals.. not goals with limits of time.. But realistic goals for myself to help make the quality of my life better. Which include body, mind, spirit and soul. So I bought a journal on lunch (I have many but didn't have one with me and I wanted to get started) and sat in my car writing. I filled several pages in purple ink :-).
I think this is a good first step for me and decided like the place I work I will start my new year of goal on the first of February. I know I can do anything I set my mind to. I know I can have self discipline. After all this girl stopped drinking soda, after drinking it since I was little and this April will be 2 full years since a drop has touched my lips-I was a Coca Cola girl. Since quiting I drink more water then I ever have and drink ice tea (Not too sweet can't handle southern ice tea).. and some hot chocolate and chocolate milk every now and then :-).
I know I can do this.. and I know I need to take things one day at a time and one goal at a time or I will get overwhelmed and I refuse to give up. This is the year I take care of me. I put me first (not easy for me to do). It will take time.. put I have a positive outlook and a lot of faith, so I know everything will work out when it should and this is going to be a very good year.
Here is one aspect of my goals.. expressing my creative side. Here are some pictures of a Art Journal I made for my best friend for Christmas. Not bad for a first try if you ask me. :-)
The cover is a 9 x 13 canvas, Textured, Sealed with Gesso and hand painted with washing of Gold, Dioxazine Purple and Naphthol Crimson. The accented with inspirational words, images and small square mirrors. Then the final touch gold glitter paint to bring it all together. Jan. 2008
